Physiology and Pharmacology Department

The department of Physiology and Pharmacology of Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences is one of the most outstanding departments. The academic staff of the department are active in offering courses to the students of Medicine, Paramedical, Nursing and Midwifery and Health Sciences and also Master's students of Physiology. Currently the department has 7 faculty members.

 Physiology is a branch of biology which deals with the mechanism of life. It deals with the function of cells, the cornerstone of human physiology, and all aspects of functioning of organs and organ systems. As a basic medical science, some of the most valuable advances in clinical procedures are based on pure laboratory work, including physiology, whose applications could not be foreseen.

Pharmacology is all about “finding out how drugs work”. It is concerned with the effects of drugs on living organisms and their components such as cells, membranes, organelles, enzymes and DNA.
